The 4th annual SIDS 5k is a fundraiser to rally our community in support of a SIDS Free Future.
This event draws hundreds of competitive runners because it is a challenging, certified and chip-timed road course. But hundreds also walk the course because it is so beautiful.
Proceeds help local families and support research to solve SIDS.

Our running event is uplifting and even inspiring, but our cause Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) ranks among the most serious medical problems.
We do this event because children are dying. In the US alone, a child is lost to SIDS every 4 hours. Some are surprised to learn more kids die from SIDS each year than from all forms of cancer combined. It is the equivalent of 45 school buses full of children lost every year.
SIDS hits home in every community, including Central Ohio. From 2009 to 2011, there were 79 sleep-related infant deaths in just Franklin County including SIDS and other similar Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths during sleep. Sadly, this equates to one local family losing a child every other week.
Aside from participating in the SIDS 5k, we have arranged a number of things you can do to further support the cause, or help make this event a success. Below we highlight some things we need most going into this year’s event.
New this year, you can easily download a simple flyer to hang in your office or anywhere else that might help increase awareness for this great cause. Click here to download the simple flyer.
We also have thousands of professionally printed full color brochures and posters to spread around Central Ohio. Please send us an email at email@example.com if you can help us spread these around and we will arrange a way to get them to you.
We need help promoting this this event. Please recruit your friends to sign up and join us! If you have not already done so, sign up for our emails and like us on Facebook. We are planning to post lots of information you can use to easily help spread the word.
Our events draw hundreds of passionate local consumers, and we still have great sponsorship opportunities available for this year. If you are interested in learning more simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will connect with you promptly to discuss the options.
This slogan has special meaning stemming from the first week after baby Will passed away, and it is something we talked about in Will’s eulogy. It was a healing moment when we considered the difference between “moving on” and “moving forward.” This distinction continues to give us strength and our hope is it serves as an uplifting metaphor for others running or walking for such an important cause.
