See How We Are Doing:  2014 SIDS 5k

We know there are a ton of people working hard to get people signed up for the SIDS 5k.  We will do our best to keep this page updated so you can check our progress.  Thanks for all you're doing to support the cause!

Registrations To-Date Registration Goal How Close Are We to Goal? Days Until Event
406 1,000 40.6% 4

As you can see in the graph below, we have reached a hard point in our registration count.  In order to reach our goal, we'll have to start pulling ahead... and fast!  We really need your help and support in spreading awareness of this great event.

Sleep in Tickets To-Date Number of Donations To-Date Amount of Donations Received
33 11 $395.00

The intent of Sleep-in Tickets is to give those who are unable to attend the opportunity to still support the event, including getting an event t-shirt.  We also provide the opportunity to make a donation in place of or in addition to registering for the event.  For comparison purposes, last year 24 people chose to do a Sleep-in Ticket, and 73 people made donations totaling $6,575.

Female vs. Male Participants

  2010 2011 2012   2013  2014 To-Date
Female 64.9% 64.5% 64.1% 63.3% 59.8%
Male 35.1% 35.5% 35.9% 36.7% 40.2%

It appears this year’s girl-to-guy ratio is tracking similar to previous years, but the guys may be making a break for it!  Keep it up, gentleman, and show your support for a SIDS Free Future.

Runners vs. Walkers

  2012 2013 2014 To-Date
Runners 40.7% 43.2% 46.9%
Walkers 59.3% 56.6% 53.1%

Our event is open to both runners and walkers, and we typically get a good mix of both.  Note that this year we expect more runners than in years past, and a large uptick in runner registrations during the last two weeks.  Know someone who runs?  Tell'em about our event!

Estimated Number of SIDS Families

This is not something we track very closely because we want to afford people their privacy.  So we try to estimate the number of families simply based on the different names of children lost to SIDS (or related SUID) that some people choose to share when they register.

  2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 To-Date
Estimated # of SIDS Families Represented at SIDS 5K 8 12 28 48 32

As someone who has lost a child, it does feel good to see so many local families come together in a show of solidarity and support for this important cause.

How Participants Direct Proceeds

  2012 2013 2014 To-Date
Support Medical Research 17.9% 20.7% 19.9%
Help Local Families 16.5% 17.0% 19.9%
No Preference 65.5% 62.2% 53.7%
Did Not Answer 0.2% 0.2% 6.6%

It is important to us to provide participants an opportunity to direct where the proceeds from our event are invested.  It is definitely helpful to get this type of feedback from those who entrust their dollars with us.
